Effect of salinity and fertility levels of the soil on the performance of two varieties of maize

This paper was presented at the fourth all-India conference on desert technology held at S.V. University, Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, on 9-13 Jan. 1986. In pot trials 2 maize were grown with 3 NPK rates in soils with 6 salinity levels (Ece in the range 3.8-24.2 mmho/cm) to study salinity/fertility interaction effects on growth. Increasing salinity levels decreased germination percentage, plant height, FW and DW; Neelum was less affected than Akabar.
