Experiments in west Brittany with Italian ryegrass grown in monoculture for a few months or for one year show positive and highly significant correlations between plant P content and soil available P2O5 levels. The P content of plants grown on soils containing similar available P2O5 levels was highly and significantly correlated with the amount of rainfall during the two months preceding the first or second grazing periods.
