Effect of soil moisture and N fertilization on growth, yield, N uptake, and water use of bell pepper (Capsicum annuum L.)

Irrigation at 40% available soil moisture (ASM) resulted in the highest growth, dry matter production, yield, N uptake and high water use efficiency (WUE) although the difference between irrigations at 40 and 60% ASM was not significant. Very high or low frequency of irrigation at 80 or 20% ASM had adverse effects. Nitrogen fertilization increased growth, dry matter production, yield, N uptake, and WUE.
