An analysis of growth and yield in 12 varieties and lines grown at 3 stand densities in 1977-84 revealed that there were basically 2 groups of genotypes, namely those which performed best (1) at low sowing rates of 2 million grains/ha (7 genotypes) and (2) at high sowing rates of 6 million grains/ha (8 genotypes).
