Effect of supplementing the diet of broiler chickens with L-lysine hydrochloride on growth and composition of the carcass

From 1 day old 1040 Hubbard chickens in 4 groups each with 8 replications were given diets equal in energy with supplements of lysine hydrochloride 0, 0.15, 0.15 or 0.29 from 1 to 28 days old; 0, 0.12, 0.12 or 0.27 from 29 to 48 days old; and 0, 0.14, 0.14 or 0.24% from 49 to 56 days old, respectively. Dietary protein for the 4 diets was 23.0, 23.0, 21.5 and 20.0, 22.0, 22.0, 20.5 and 19.0 and 20.0, 20.0, 18.5 and 17.5% during the 3 periods.
