Effect of two levels of dietary protein on wool characters in Angora rabbits

44 Angora rabbits in Chile were fed diets containing 19 or 13% protein and were shorn in summer or in autumn. For rabbits fed the 2 diets and shorn in summer, fibre diameter averaged 14.49 and 14.29 micro m resp. vs. 13.40 and 13.92 micro m for those shorn in autumn, the difference between seasons being significant for rabbits fed 19% protein. Fibre length averaged 6.03 and 6.30 cm vs. 5.55 and 5.77 (P<0.05).
