Effects of castration and testosterone on some skeletal muscles of male lambs

Effects of castration and testosterone on some skeletal muscles of male lambs

Doga, Veterinerlik ve Hayvancilik 11(2): 143-149

The effects of castration and testosterone were studied on five different skeletal muscles in 22 Akkaraman male lambs aged nine months that were divided into 3 groups (entire lambs, wethers, testosterone-treated wethers). Wethers contained more connective and fatty tissues than male lambs and testosterone-treated wethers. Significant differences were found among the fibre diameters of the triceps brachii, gluteobiceps and semitendinosus muscles.
