Effects of chemical treatments facilitating the abscission of fruit in the sweet cherry cultivar Germersdorf

Effects of chemical treatments facilitating the abscission of fruit in the sweet cherry cultivar Germersdorf

Rivista della Ortoflorofrutticoltura Italiana 70(2): 85-95

Silaid (2-chloroethyl-methyl-bis-phenylmethoxy silane) (2-chloroethylmethyl-bis-benzyloxysilane) at 400 p.p.m. and Ethrel (ethephon) also at 400 p.p.m. were applied on 12 June, 2 weeks before harvesting with a Schaumann mechanical shaker. At harvest fruit removal was 72% in the untreated control, 87 with Ethrel and 84% with Silaid. The chemical treatments also produced more concentrated and even ripening.
