Effects of climatological variation on the cardiac output and related heart functions in buffalo calves

The studies were conducted to record cardiac output and related functions as a response to climatic variations at monthly intervals throughout a year in buffalo calves. Cardiac output and cardiac index were highest in April to July, followed by those in August to November. Lower cardiac values were recorded in December and January. The cardiac output was influenced by the change in the heart rate. The animals maintained a constant stroke volume through the whole year. The central blood volume had a tendency to increase with rise in ambient temperature, whereas the circulation time increased in cooler months.
