Effects of cutting frequency and height on agronomic characteristics and yield performance of a sorghum-Sudangrass hybrid

In field trials, Sorghum bicolor X S. sudanense Pioneer 855F was cut to 5, 10, 20 or 30 cm height 2, 3 or 4 times between July and Sep. The relative contribution of leaf components to yield increased with increasing cutting frequency and greater cutting heights. LAI was highest during primary growth under 2 cuts and during the 1st regrowth under 3 and 4 cuts, but was not affected by cutting height. CGR was highest during the 1st regrowth.
