Effects of deltamethrin, applied against Ostrinia nubilalis, on the entomofauna and aphids on maize

Effects of deltamethrin, applied against Ostrinia nubilalis, on the entomofauna and aphids on maize

Bulletin OEPP 16(2): 407-411

Deltamethrin sprayed at 20 g/ha at the 1-1.2-m stage of maize in France was highly toxic to a syrphid population just developing on the crop and to adult small Hymenoptera, but did not affect Scymnus spp. arriving 3 weeks later. Chlorpyrifos-methyl applied at the '70% panicles visible' stage had less effect on syrphids and Hymenoptera but was toxic to Scymnus.
