Effects of dextran sulfate on stabilization of milk lipoprotein lipase and VLDL triglyceride hydrolysis in vitro

Dextran sulphate (DS) consists of components of different MW and sulphate contents. Relationship between MW of DS and its effects on stabilization of purified cows' milk lipoprotein lipase (LPL) and on enhancement of hydrolysis of very low density lipoprotein triglyceride (VLDL-TG) by LPL was studied. Effects of 4 different DS were examined. DS increased hydrolysis of VLDL-TG by LPL by changing the Vmax value for the reaction; Km value was not changed.
