There were no significant differences in subsequent milk yield (av. 23.7-25.7 kg/day) among 4 groups of 21 Holstein-Friesian heifers given lucerne-based or maize-based diets and fed to gain 725 or 950 g/day from 175 to 325 kg liveweight.
