Effects of dietary energy levels and sex on broiler performance and carcass traits

A total of 1200 Ross chicks initially 1 day old were given diets with metabolizable energy 2800 (low), 2950 (normal) or 3100 (high) kcal/kg in the starting period (1-35 days) and 2900 (low), 3050 (normal) or 3200 (high) kcal/kg in the finishing period (36-56 days). The total (1-56 days) weight gain, feed intake and feed conversion were higher in males than in females. The sex-diet interaction was not significant.
