Effects of dietary protein. 1. On serum protein levels and immune response in Yankasa ewes

Effects of dietary protein. 1. On serum protein levels and immune response in Yankasa ewes

Bulletin of Animal Health and Production in Africa 34(2): 115-117

Groups of 6 Yankasa ewes about 9 months to 1 year old were given for 6 months a diet based on concentrate and hay with 15, 7.5 or 4% crude protein. Ewes given 15% protein had significantly greater serum protein, 8.09 +or- 0.8 g/100 ml, than had the other 2 groups (6.41 +or- 0.25 and 6.41 +or- 0.02 g/100 ml). The different diets had no effect of serum albumin, alpha 1-, alpha 2- and beta -globulin.
