Effects of different pen areas during the first stage of feeding and regrouping of animals on the performance of fattening pigs

Effects of different pen areas during the first stage of feeding and regrouping of animals on the performance of fattening pigs

Tierzucht 41(12): 554-555

For 415 pigs each allowed a floor area of 0.60 msuperscript 2 during the first 70 days of the finishing period, daily gain averaged 606 g vs. 598 for 410 pigs each allowed 0.45 msuperscript 2; daily feed consumption averaged 2.20 kg vs. 2.15 and feed consumption/kg gain 2.13 kg vs. 2.12, the differences between the groups only being significant for feed consumption.
