Effects of different soil water regimes on bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) yield and yield components

Water consumption was determined using a set of columns filled with mineral soil from the lowlands; water tables were maintained at depths of 25, 40, 55 and 80 cm relative to the surface throughout the growth cycle of P. vulgaris Batatinha. Surface irrigation was applied when soil moisture content, determined by the gravity method, reached 50% of the water available at one-third of the depth of the groundwater table.
