Effects of different sowing rates and nitrogen doses on yield and other agronomic traits of some common wheat cultivars

In field trials at Edirne in 1978-80 and Tekirdag in 1979-80, wheat was sown at 300-600 seeds/msuperscript 2 and given 0-160 kg N/ha. The highest yielding was Krkpnar-79 (4.36 t/ha) and the lowest was Bezostaja-1 (3.65 t/ha). Increasing sowing rate increased ears/msuperscript 2 but decreased 1000-grain wt, grains/ear, ear length and grain:straw ratio.
