In field trials in 1982, drought stress during vegetative growth reduced seed yield of soyabeans from 2.2 to 1.8 t, maize grain yield from 6.1 to 4.6 t, sesame seed yield from 8.5 to 4.3 t and groundnut seed yield from 2.0 to 1.7 t/ha compared with irrigated controls.
