60 Tetra-SL brown egg-type pullets, aged 28 wk, were fed diets with 10.1, 11.3 or 12.6 megajoules metabolisable energy per kg for 24 wk. The experimental period was divided into 3 phases according to av. ambient temp., as follows: phases 1 and 3 were periods of normal temp. (min. = 21 degrees -23 degrees C and max. = 31 degrees -33 degrees ); phase 3 was hot (min. = 24 degrees -26 degrees and max. = 34 degrees -36 degrees ).
