Effects of ethephon plant regulator on rice yield



Proceedings of the Plant Growth Regulator Society of America: 489



Foliar applications of 240-360 g ethephon/ha to rice at the end of effective tillering but before panicle primordia initiation increased yields by 10-45%. Ethephon increased the number of panicles/unit area but had no effect on the number of spikelets/panicle, percentage filled grain or 1000-grain wt. Both transplanted and direct sown rice gave yield increases.
