Effects of evapotranspiration on modeling in southern Louisiana

The van Bavel method was used to evaluate potential evapotranspiration (PET). These values were compared to measured pan evaporation data to calculate monthly factors to adjust measured pan evaporation data so that it estimated actual PET. Factors were formulated to correct the method used in the DRAINMOD subsurface drainage model to calculate better simulations. Annual PET/pan ratios for 3 different calculation methods were 0.831, 0.687 and 0.763.
