Effects of feeding black currant seed oil on fatty acid composition of lipid classes in the guinea pig liver

Effects of feeding black currant seed oil on fatty acid composition of lipid classes in the guinea pig liver

International Journal for Vitamin and Nutrition Research. Internationale Zeitschrift für Vitamin- und Ernahrungsforschung. Journal International de Vitaminologie et de Nutrition 57(3): 343-343

For 40 days guineapigs were given diets with 10% black currant seed oil (BCO), walnut oil (WO) or lard. Liver of guineapigs given BCO had more C20:3n-6 fatty acid than had that of guineapigs given WO or lard and the greatest percentage of this prostaglandin 1 precursor was found in the cholesteryl esters and phosphatidyl inositol. Values of C20:4n-6 were similar, independent of the diets but more was found in the phospholipids.
