Effects of feeding level and of late pregnancy increases in feed allocation on the reproductive performance of sows

340 gilts at 10 centres were given 1.8, 2.1 or 2.4 kg feed daily during pregnancy (designated treatments L, M and H resp.), and 2 further treatments in which L and M pigs had their daily intakes increased to those of the M and H pigs during the last 2 wk of pregnancy (designated L+ and M+ resp.). The feed contained 13.1 MJ digestible energy/kg diet, 145 g crude protein/kg and 7 g lysine/kg. The treatments continued over 3 parities.
