Effects of feeding soy protein isolate and its proteolytic digests on cholesterol level in rat serum and hepatic and small intestinal functions

Effects of feeding soy protein isolate and its proteolytic digests on cholesterol level in rat serum and hepatic and small intestinal functions

Nutritional Science of Soy Protein Japan 6(1): 58-62

Wistar rats were given diets to appetite with casein or soyabean protein isolate (SPI) and its peptic and tryptic digests as protein sources for 1 month. Body weight gains of rats given SPI and its proteolytic digest-based diets were significantly lower than those of rats given the casein-based diet but there was no difference in weights of liver, small intestine and caecum among the groups.
