Effects of fertilizers on yield and quality of Italian ryegrass on an albic luvisol at Albota

In field trials in 1981-83, 0-300 kg N + 0 or 100 kg P2O5 + 0 or 100 kg K2O/ha was applied to Lolium multiflorum. P and K were applied in the autumn and N in the spring and 3 cuts were taken. Over the 3 cuts DM yields ranged from 6.5 t/ha with no NPK to 14.19 t at the top NPK rates. CP and CF contents increased with increase in N rate. With increase in N rate digestible CP yields increased from 248 kg to 1.22 t/ha with no P and K and from 363 kg to 1.38 t with P and K.
