The effects of temp. fluctuations on growing pigs are reviewed with references to relevant research data. Newly weaned animals should be maintained at 28 - 26 degrees C for the first 2 weeks, with a 2-3 degrees C fall each week thereafter. Heating costs can be reduced by lowering air temp. for part of the day, but diarrhoea incidence may increase when temp. fluctuate diurnally.
