Effects of gamma -BHC (lindane) on zooplankton under outdoor conditions

Effects of gamma -BHC (lindane) on zooplankton under outdoor conditions

Chemosphere 16(7): 1527-1538

To study the effects of trace amounts of an insecticide on zoo- and phytoplankton, lindane was applied at 0.02-0.5 mg/litre to an artificial pond in the German Federal Republic. There was no significant difference between the relative chlorophyll-fluorescence values of treated and untreated phytoplankton. The number of Rotifera (mainly species of Polyarthra) in untreated water declined over the initial 6 days from 220 to about 72 individuals/litre.
