Effects of gamma radiation on morphology and cytology of some multiple species hybrids of Gossypium

Seeds of 5 interspecific hybrids derived from complex crosses involving G. hirsutum, G. barbadense, G. arboreum, G. anomalum, G. stocksii, G. armourianum and G. herbaceum, together with the commercial strain MNH93, were subjected to 25 or 35 kR gamma -radiation. Seed mortality was highest in Cyto-12/74. The M0 generation showed variation in morphology, including increased stem height and decreased branching, fruiting and final yield.
