In trials in 1971-75 in the W. part of the Polish Lowlands, the effects of irrigation on an intensive rotation of potatoes/sugarbeet/grain maize/winter wheat + winter catch crop and a non-intensive rotation of potatoes/fodder carrots/silage maize/rye were studied. Sprinkler irrigation increased crop yields by an av. of 0.5-31.8%, with the greatest increases in root crops.
