Merino, Red Karaman, Awassi, Tushin and Karakul ewes were (1) grazed on natural pasture (controls), (2) fed concentrates for 15 days prior to mating, or (3) fed concentrates for 30 days. In the 3 groups resp., conception rate was 84.4, 85.1 and 90.1%, number of lambs born per ewe mated averaged 0.94, 1.03 and 1.12, number of lambs born per ewe lambing 1.12, 1.18 and 1.23, and lamb birth weight 2.2, 2.8 and 3.3 kg.
