One-year-old shoots of 16 cherry and 7 plum cultivars, sampled in February and March, were kept in a freeze-chamber, with gradual temperature reduction to -38 degrees C, for 10 h. Injury to the shoots and their individual tissues was assessed on a point scale and the results were statistically analysed.
