Evaluation of solar and husk-fired grain dryers

Technological change in postharvest handling and transportation of grains in the humid tropics Proceedings of an international seminar, Bangkok, Thailand, 10-12 September 1986: 183-187

In order to obtain higher prices and better quality for storage or milling, paddy needs to be dried during the rainy season. However, due to lack of proper driers and limited drying space, farmers in Thailand often sell paddy of high m.c. at relatively low prices. A study which evaluated the physical and economic performance of 3 different drying techniques which can be applied at farm level is reported.
