Experiments to control insects causing acorn production loss

Experiments to control insects causing acorn production loss

Erdo 35(3): 97-101

Control measures were taken in Hungary to prevent acorn loss from stands of Quercus robur caused by insect pests. The stands were aerially sprayed 7x with dimethoate at the beginning of flowering. At the time of the fall of ripe acorns, damage by species of Balaninus and Carpocapsa sp. was 9 and 2.4%, respectively, in treated stands, compared with 37 and 11% in control stands.
