Fuel dynamics in an urban fringe dry sclerophyll forest in Victoria

Fuel dynamics in an urban fringe dry sclerophyll forest in Victoria

Australian Forestry 49(3): 149-154

Fuel dynamics were studied in dry sclerophyll forest NE of Melbourne in Aug. 1983 and 1985, using sites which had been either unburnt for >20 yr or burnt by low-intensity fuel reduction fires. Average annual litter accumulation was 16.9 t/ha, higher than the max. desirable level for fire control of 12-15 t/ha.
