Glycoalkaloids of potato tubers grown under controlled environments
Potato tubers were analysed for total and individual glycoalkaloid content using HPLC. Results for 5 grown at 9 locations throughout the North Central Region were used to establish an av. total (TGA) and individual glycoalkaloid content. The glycoalkaloid content varied greatly and the TGA ranged from 0.17 to 0.85 mg/g DW. Controlled environmental factors included length of photoperiod, growth temp., CO2 level and RH. Cultivar studied were Norland, Russet Burbank and Denali. Av.
