In studies of the incidence of Euproctis subnotata, Heliothis armigera and other larvae on randomly selected ears of various cultivars and of grain yield from damaged and undamaged ears, Euproctis infestation was less on midlate cultivars with compact or semicompact ears than on early lax-eared cultivars like CSH1. Grain losses ranged from 6.57% in CSH6 to 15.83% in CSH1.
