Grasses. Persistence

, : Grasses. Persistence. Jaarverslag 1987, Stichting voor Plantenveredeling SVP: ; 34, 107

When 24 Phleum pratense entries were grown in nutrient solution and in soil, those in nutrient solution grew more quickly initially, but repeated cutting favoured those grown in soil. There were marked genotypic differences in response to frequent cutting, with some showing a loss in vigour while others retained or increased their competitive ability. Dry matter production was closely correlated with tiller formation (r = 0.95).

Tripsacoidness in maize describes a combination of characters associated with induration of glume and rachis tissues of the female inflorescence. These traits can be introduced into domesticated maize from its closest wild relative Z. mays ssp. me...

Whether or not non-coding RNA genes play a significant role in reproductive biology and evolution of sex determination systems is an important problem. We report identification of sex-related non-coding RNA (ncRNA) genes and an analysis of ncRNAs...

Since PKC is a multigene family, we...
