Great scope for the cooperative movement
The new USSR legislation on cooperatives creates a standardized legal framework for all types of cooperative in all sectors of the economy. In agriculture the most important form of cooperative is the kolkhoz (at present there are 26 559 kolkhozy with 12.5 million workers); in addition there are horticultural cooperatives with about 12.5 million member families cultivating around 854 000 ha.
