The activity of haemagglutinin in the haemolymph of females of Armigeres subalbatus was high at the pupal stage and decreased gradually after emergence. This activity was lost after incubation with microfilariae of Brugia pahangi for 2 h at 15 degrees C. The frequency of melanin deposition around microfilariae was high in pupae and 1-3-day-old adults but low in 4-8-day-old adults.
