Heavy metal contamination in soils of the Aranjuez Plain, Spain. (I) Pb, Cd, Cu, Zn, Ni and Cr

, : Heavy metal contamination in soils of the Aranjuez Plain, Spain. (I) Pb, Cd, Cu, Zn, Ni and Cr. Anales de Edafologia y Agrobiologia 44(11/12): 1595-1608

Contents of heavy metals (Pb, Cd, Cu, Zn, Ni, Cr) in surface horizons (0-15 cm) of arable soils in six zones of the Aranjuez Plain, Spain were determined. Concentrations of both total and N HCl-soluble metals were evaluated. Mean levels of Pb in one zone, Cd in all zones and Zn in three zones exceeded the limits of tolerance proposed by the UK; contamination was very high in some individual samples.
