Herpes simplex masquerade syndrome: acanthamoeba keratitis


, : Herpes simplex masquerade syndrome: acanthamoeba keratitis. Current Eye Research 6(1): 207-212

3 cases of severe corneal disease caused by Acanthamoeba that masqueraded as Herpes simplex keratitis are reported in patients wearing soft contact lenses. Early manifestations (one patient) presented as a pseudodendritic lesion within or just beneath the epithelium in the anterior stroma. A 2nd patient presented with central stromal infiltrate and necrosis, and in a 3rd patient, later manifestations appeared as a ring ulcer.
