Heterocyclic sulphur compounds with antifungal properties: a study of the in vitro activity of various 5-aryl-1,2 dithiole-3-thiones on various fungi pathogenic to man

, : Heterocyclic sulphur compounds with antifungal properties: a study of the in vitro activity of various 5-aryl-1,2 dithiole-3-thiones on various fungi pathogenic to man. Annales Pharmaceutiques Francaises 44(2): 157-162

The orthophenyl substituted derivatives (OCH3CH3Cl) were found to inhibit the growth of dermatophytes (Epidermophyton floccosum, Microsporum canis, Trichophyton mentagrophytes) at min. inhibitory concn (MICs) of between 50 micro g/ml and 100 micro g/ml. Compounds with a pyridine ring instead of a phenyl ring exhibited moderate activity against Candida albicans.
