Pargus major were given a single intramuscular injection of E. tarda crude lipopolysaccharide (LPS) or formalin killed cells (FKC). The immune response was studied after 1, 2, 3 and 4 weeks. Serum protein, albumin and glucose agglutinating antibody titre, passive haemagglutination titre, complement-like factor activity, bacteriolytic activity, haemagglutination activity of the serum and the skin mucus, and the in vitro phagocytic index of the whole blood were determined.
