Increasing the performance of Precoce sheep by crossbreeding

Precoce ewes (130 per group) were inseminated with semen of Stavropol, Volgograd, Altai, Australian Merino and Precoce rams. Of the offspring, 15 lambs of each type were finished from 3 months of age (weaning) to 81/2 months. Weaning weight averaged 21.2, 21.0, 17.8, 23.0 and 21.5 kg for the 5 types of lambs resp., and 18.9, 18.7, 16.7, 22.1 and 16.6 kg for lambs.
