Individual conductometric test as a method of evaluation of pea seed vigour

Pea seed vigour was negatively correlated with the number of ions released into distilled water (max. conductance 10 micro S) during swelling. The electric conductivity of the exudate obtained in the individual tests was 100-fold higher than in mass tests. Exudate conductivity values of up to 1500 micro S/g were obtained for highly viable seeds, up to 2500 micro S for moderately viable seeds but values >4500 micro S indicated non-viable seeds.
