Induced resistance in rice to sheath blight disease

Phytotoxins produced by Rhizoctonia solani, including phenyl acetic acid (PAA) and its hydroxy derivatives (m-HPAA, o-HPAA and p-HPAA), and an incompatible R. solani isolate from potato, induced resistance to sheath blight when sprayed on excised rice leaves from susceptible cultivars.
