Infestation resistance of wild legumes (Vigna sublobata) to azuki bean weevil, Callosobruchus chinensis (L.) (Coleoptera: Bruchidae) and its relationship with cytogenetic classification

The resistance of beans of various species and types of the genus Vigna to infestations with the bruchid Callosobruchus chinensis was investigated in the laboratory. V. mungo, V. sublobata race I and one strain (TC 1966) of V. sublobata race II showed resistance to C. chinensis, while V. umbellata, V. angularis, V. radiata, V. trilobata and the other strains of V. sublobata race II tested were susceptible.
