Influence of Patoran 50 WP on the amylolytic, proteolytic and lipolytic activity of mesophilic and thermophilic soil actinomycetes

Strains of 7 mesophilic Streptomyces spp. and 7 thermophilic Thermoactinomyces spp. isolated from soil treated with Patoran 50 WP (metobromuron) were studied for growth rate and enzyme activity. Using colony diam. and index of hydrolysis as parameters it was shown that Patoran generally inhibited the growth rate of the actinomycetes studied, although occasional growth stimulation was observed at 10-100 mg Patoran/kg.
