Inheritance of characteristics in heterogeneous populations

Khlopkovodstvo (12): 25-26

Inheritance of characteristics in heterogeneous populations

Gossypium barbadense cultivars and hybrids between various species (including wild species) were used as maternal parents in crosses with G. hirsutum cultivars. The morphological, biological and technological characteristics of the resulting hybrids are given. The wider the hybridization, the greater was the variation in these characteristics in the hybrids. The value of most of the characteristics was intermediate between the parental values up to the BC3.
